Gold Coast Institute of TAFE (GCIT) provides world class training for over 16,000 students annually in one of the most attractive locations in Australia—the Gold Coast.  Each year over 1,600 international students from across the globe choose GCIT for its quality education and great location. GCIT was established in 1976 and currently employs over 600 staff.  Courses range from certificate to advanced diplomas and a range of short courses.

Formal courses

GCIT offers a wide range of courses from Certificate to Advanced Diploma level in disciplines such as hospitality, hotel management and tourism, engineering, business, accounting, nursing and allied health, information technology, graphic design,  interactive digital media, building, construction, automotive mechanic, automotive electrician, carpentry, plumbing, and TESOL.

Many of GCIT’s diploma courses offer direct entry to a range of Queensland’s top universities. University pathways are a popular way for students to enter their chosen industry with practical skills, knowledge and English capability before articulating through to further study.

English language programs

GCIT’s English language centre programs are accredited by NEAS to ensure that students receive the highest standard of English language education. Our English language programs are developed and delivered by highly trained teachers who are experts in their field.  The English language facility is fully air-conditioned, based in the CBD with spacious classrooms and a computerised language laboratory.  All students have access to free internet throughout their studies and are provided with all materials and\or text books, internet and email, regular off campus excursions and full us of the library and independent learning centres.

English language programs range from intensive English, general English, IELTS preparation and specialist English language programs in nursing and health, business and hospitality.   English language programs are offered from basic to advanced level tailored for entry to higher education\university entry and other study or work programs.

IELTS Test Centre

GCIT is the only IELTS testing centre for the Gold Coast region.   IELTS tests are conducted every fortnight and can accommodate up to 300 candidates in GCIT’s recently renovated state of the art English language testing centre.
