Life in Western Australia
Western Australia is famous for its long days of sunshine, beaches, and friendly people. Perth, the capital of WA, is a modern, cosmopolitan city with a population of over 1.6 million. It enjoys a Mediterranean climate with perfect blue skies and a pollution-free environment. With more hours of sunshine than any other Australian capital city, there is lots of time to enjoy a range of outdoor activities. And it’s not just the great weather – WA has the best lifestyle in the country, world-class education services, fine wines and great food. Perth also has a relatively low crime rate compared to other major cities.
Numerous independent studies have named Perth as one of the most desirable, affordable and safest cities in the world. The cost of living in the city is lower than in the UK, and, even by Australian standards, Perth’s living costs for international students are below those of other major Australian capital cities.
Leading economists have stated that Western Australia is the fastest growing economy in Australia and will continue to lead the rest of the country in 2010 in key areas of economic growth, business investment and construction work. This is great news for international students who chose to study in Western Australia.
