Information for research applicants – Griffith University

Before making an application for a research programme at Griffith, you are required to identify an available supervisor at the university. You can do this through the Research Hub. You can see a list of Research centres at the university here.

When contacting supervisors we recommend that you communicate your research interests in a concise but well thought through manner – academic staff will receive a lot of similar requests and are only likely to respond positively to the ones that demonstrate commitment and ability. It is also a good idea to attach a CV (no longer than two pages) and a copy of your academic transcripts.

Once you have located an available supervisor and received a positive response from them you will need to prepare your research proposal. This should be no longer than 500 words and you should use headings based on the following:

  • Areas of research (include the Griffith school, department or research centre that will host your programme)
  • Clear statement of your research topic
  • Brief overview of previous relevant research
  • Objectives of the programme of research investigation
  • Research methods and plan, including references to key literature sources
  • Proposed Griffith principal supervisor/Griffith associate supervisor or any non-Griffith supervisor

Once you have developed the proposal, you are encouraged to submit an application online.

When completing the form, you will be asked if you would like to appoint a representative. You should enter Study Options contact details here. This will enable Study Options to certify the documentation that is required for your application free of charge and also liaise with the admissions teams with regards to your application.
