Monash students tackle water saving problems

Three engineering students from Monash University have been selected to represent Australia at the Shell Ideas 360 conference. Only 5 teams are selected from over 650 entries to complete at this event which is designed to allow students to develop and share ideas that tackle energy, water and food shortages.

The team’s SMART water idea is designed to show household water usage, where water is used effectively to help prevent waste, provide notifications on usage rates and also the household’s progress towards target goals. Team leader Amir says that the team’s idea “aims to change the water lifestyle of all people” and that the SMART Water app provides users with “a personal platform for monitoring and reducing their water usage in a fun and interactive manner”.
