Sydney named top destination for international students

The Global Cities 2014 report produced by consultancy firm A.T. Kearney has named Sydney as the most popular destination for international students beating 83 other cities around the world to the title.

Figures released by the federal government have shown that Sydney is home to some 50,000 international students at it’s universities, with a further 50,000 enrolled on vocational and language courses.

More than 300,000 international students are enrolled across Australia, as it becomes an increasingly popular destination for students from all over the world but particularly China, India, South Korea, Malaysia and Vietnam.

If you want to find out why Australia has become such a popular destination for international students just read this.

Sydney lord mayor Clover Moore said "Sydney offers first-class education, professional experiences, cutting-edge research opportunities, a strong economy and a lifestyle that is unmatched. It is no wonder so many students choose to live here."

In a QS ranking of student cities last year, Sydney came fourth and Melbourne also featured in joint fifth.  There is no doubt that Australia is an increasingly attractive destination for international students.
