Survey of global recruiters rates Australian University graduates
A recent survey based on interviews with 4,500 recruiters in 20 countries, has concluded that graduates from Australian Universities are amongst the most employable in the world.
The survey was conducted by Paris-based human resources consultants Emerging and German polling institute Trendence. It is now in its fourth year, which enables them to draw some interesting conclusions from the results. The survey concluded that successful university brands were becoming more global with greater emphasis on links with industry and work-based learning programmes.
Laurent Dupasquier, Associate director of Emerging said: “On the whole, the results of this year’s survey and the ensuing ranking confirm that ‘global’ is the key word for tomorrows university… Like the premiere league the champions have an international community of students and think internationally, unlike their more locally oriented counterparts”.
Performing well in the survey were more universities that offer close contact with the business world. Most respondents tended to agree that the university of tomorrow must prepare students for the realities of work with a balanced mix of theoretical and practical training. Expertise in one field of competence is the second most important priority to look for when choosing a university graduate.
In the top 150, the list features the Australian National University (23), Monash University (33), UNSW Australia (48) and the University of Melbourne (65). For the first year, the University of Auckland squeezes on to the list as well (150).
