Happy Chinese New Year! To welcome in the lunar new year, we have decided to a feature a handful of the programmes on offer to students wanting to learn more about China during their degree.
As part of the Asia-Pacific region, Australia and New Zealand have close working connections to China and Asia. Its universities offer world-renowned degree programmes with opportunities to experience the culture at first hand and covering many aspects of Chinese and Asian culture – language, history, business and culture.
Bachelor of Asia-Pacific Studies at Australian National University with a year in Asia
ANU’s bachelor programme offers you the opportunity to study the language and culture of a number of Asian-Pacific countries, including China. As part of the programme you will also spend a year studying at university in the country – a perfect opportunity to utilise your language skills and learn from first-hand experiences. This bachelor degree offers majors in Chinese, Arabic, French, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Sanskrit, Spanish, Thai, Urdu and Vietnamese, and a wide variety of minors to complement your studies. Bachelor of International Studies at Macquarie University
Macquarie University’s Bachelor of International Studies allows you to choose to study a wide variety of Asian and European languages, including Chinese. Students will also study cultural and history modules to develop a wider understanding of international relations. The Bachelor of International Studies includes a semester abroad and a focused internship period (either within Australia or abroad) linked to the language and culture of the student’s study. Graduate Certificate in Asia Pacific Business Management at Griffith University
The Graduate Certificate in Asia Pacific Business Management focuses on business and management in the Asia Pacific setting. Students will study courses that are focused on providing them with international and Asia-capable business skills and knowledge. The Graduate Certificate provides a strong foundation in the functional and contextual areas of Asian business and management, but it’s also possible for students to go on to gain Masters and Advanced Masters qualifications on this programme pathway. Master of China Studies at the University of Sydney
The Master of China Studies at the University of Sydney is a course designed for those with a keen interest in China. The University's degree programme covers the breadth of China’s society, culture, language, history and development; giving students the opportunity to specialise in a range of areas - business, health, history (ancient and modern), law, society, and politics. Students of the Master of China Studies graduate with a sophisticated and comprehensive understanding of the country and it’s people, enabling them to work effectively in a wide variety of sectors and professions interacting with China. Successful completion of the Masters programme can also lead to further study on the China Studies doctoral programme. Studying China and Chinese in New Zealand
