All eight New Zealand universities feature in top 500 World Universities

The latest QS World University Rankings have been released, with all eight of the New Zealand universities ranked.  New Zealand is the only country in the World to achieve top 500 positions for every university, out of a grand total of 3800 global institutions considered.

The University of Auckland retains top spot within New Zealand, placed at 81 in the World, while many of the other universities also improved their rankings on last year, solidifying New Zealand’s position as a world-class study destination.

The QS methodology takes into account six indicators: Academic reputation; Employer reputation; Student-to-faculty ratio; Citations per faculty; International faculty ratio; International student ratio.

Chris Whelan, the executive director of Universities New Zealand, said the rankings are an extraordinary result and that increased focus on high-quality research contributed much to the success of New Zealand rankings.

The positions in the 2016/17 Rankings are as follows:

Australian Universities have also done well in the 2016/17 Rankings, with six in the top 100 and Australian National University taking the Australian top spot - 22 in the World.  To see the full rankings and methodology, please visit the QS Top Universities website.
