Jimmy Choo visits final year fashion students at Curtin University
World-renowned shoemaker Jimmy Choo has paid a visit to final year fashion students studying at Curtin University in Perth. Professor Jimmy Choo OBE visited Australia for the first time to launch a new education programme for the Western Australian creative industry, called Fashion Advocate.
The Fashion Advocate (Creativity Through Skills) programme aims to bring to life the disappearing art of craftsmanship, encouraging the young to take up careers in design. Although now a world-famous name in the fashion industry, Jimmy Choo started his career at the age of 11, cobbling his first pair of shoes in his father’s shop in Malaysia.
Six students at the Curtin Fashion School had a unique opportunity to discuss their design projects with Professor Choo, and received some valuable feedback, including the opportunity to contact him again in case they are in need of further advice!
