Cate Blanchett receives honorary doctorate from Macquarie University
Macquarie University in Sydney has awarded Oscar winner Cate Blanchett a Doctor of Letters honoris causa to recognise her extraordinary contribution to the arts, philanthropy and the community.
The award was presented by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor S Bruce Dowton, who described her as “one of the world’s greatest actors”. Cate is originally from Melbourne and trained at the National Institute for Dramatic Art in Sydney. She has been awarded two Academy Awards, three BAFTAs and three Golden Globes.
