UWA professor to give archaeology lecture at the British Museum
Professor Benjamin Smith from the University of Western Australia will be presenting an archaeology lecture in the British Museum on Monday 21st September, 2pm - 3pm.
In his lecture, 80,000 years of rock art production in southern Africa, Professor Smith explores the evidence for the origins of art and spirituality in the region. He follows the story of our understanding of the meaning of southern African rock art from earliest times up until the last painters less than 100 years ago.
The lecture is free to attend, although you must book a place in advance on the British Museum website (event passed). Professor Smith’s lecture is part of the African Rock Art Image Project, which you can find out more about here.
