Jimmy Choo becomes adjunct professor and global ambassador at Curtin University
Shoe designer Jimmy Choo has recently been appointed adjunct professor and global ambassador at Curtin University. Professor Choo’s role as global ambassador will open up opportunities for design students at Curtin to work and study at fashion institutions around the world.
He has already been working with Curtin students, and has visited Perth twice recently - to teach a masterclass and to judge a fashion competition. The winner of the fashion competition, Mallory Maduke-Ike, received a year’s mentorship from Professor Choo and is currently working with him in Malaysia as part of the experience. *
Professor Majella Franzmann, Pro-Vice Chancellor of the Faculty of Humanities, said Professor Choo’s appointment was recognition of the strong relationship the University had already established with the fashion designer: "We are thrilled to have Professor Choo as part of the Curtin team. His expertise, industry experience and enthusiasm fit perfectly with Curtin’s commitment to provide our students with access to the very best scholars."
