A student from Monash University has been announced as the only Australian finalist in the Lexus Design Awards – an international design competition.  Chulin Yang is studying the Masters in Interaction Design and was selected as one of 12 finalists from 1232 entries from 73 countries.

Chulin’s qualifying design is a hexagonal shaped umbrella with magnets in the corners, multiple umbrellas can be joined together to foster communications between their users.  You can find out more about the design awards here.

Eight of the designs in the final will be featured as panel presentations at Milan Design Week, 12th-17th April 2016, with the winner of the Lexus Design Awards being announced on the 11th April.
