New MicroMasters courses presented by Australian universities on EdX
Signalling the latest innovation in higher education, a new range of MicroMasters has been launched on the online learning platform, edX. The MicroMasters programmes are designed to start students off on their journey towards gaining a full Masters degree.
The MicroMasters programmes give students grounding in the subject, as well as a final credential that works as a recognised standalone qualification or enables students to gain entry to the full degree programme should they wish to apply.
Modules studied as part of a MicroMasters can be counted towards university credit for the full degree, so it’s possible to study the first section of a Masters degree online and finish it off at the University campus. Unlike many of the other short courses available on edX, the MicroMasters modules are not free, but offer an entry pathway into studying the full degree programme at the University once you’ve completed the MicroMasters.
MicroMasters programmes that have been put together by Australian Universities are:
- Human Rights Theory and Philosophy with Curtin University
- Leadership in Global Development with the University of Queensland
- Evidence-based Management with Australian National University
