The Miramar Creative Centre opens at VUW with two brand new courses
Victoria University of Wellington has recently opened the brand new Miramar Creative Centre – a world-class facility set right in the heart of Wellington’s creative district.
Miramar Creative Centre is the result of a collaboration between Victoria University of Wellington and film industry partners in Weta Workshop, Weta Digital, Park Road Post Production and Miramar Creative Ltd. Companies that are collectively the proud creators of blockbuster movies such as The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit trilogy, Avatar, King Kong and Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol.2.
The Creative Centre is home to two new one-year Masters programmes – Master of Design Technology and Master of Fine Arts (Creative Practice).
Master of Design Technology
Gain the skills you’ll need to work in game design, Visual Effects (VFX), animation and AR/VR experiences, and enjoy the benefits of teaching from industry experts who have many years of experience with studios such as Dreamworks, Disney and Weta Digital.
Master of Fine Arts (Creative Practice)
Two of the specialty areas offered by the MFA (CP) - film and music - will be taught from the Miramar Creative Centre. Study film production, post-production, film scoring and audio post-production.
Studying at Miramar Creative Centre, students will have access to industry standard studio spaces, recording and editing suites, computer labs and a workshop. The MCC is also kitted out with the business’s best – including green screen, high-end camera gear, motion capture technology, music recording facilities, and the same software used by film production companies worldwide.
The MCC’s close relationship with the industry also means students on both programmes get the exciting chance to learn directly from the experts with teaching sessions, internships and work opportunities.
