Two new expert master programmes at Monash University for 2019

Monash will be introducing two new Masters degrees from Semester 1, 2019. The Master of Science and the Master of Mathematics are designed for graduates who would like to embark on a career in research or education.

Master of Mathematics

The Master of Mathematics is designed for graduates with a strong foundation in mathematics. On the programme, students will develop advanced knowledge and skills that make them employable in industry, or prepare them for doctoral studies.

Students can create a programme to suit their interests, from pure mathematics that develops the core theory, to statistics and applied and computational mathematics that extend this theory to bring practical solutions to real-world problems.

The Master of Mathematics can open doors to a range of careers from academia, data analysis, quantitative analysis and more.

Master of Science

The Master of Science prepares graduates for professional employment or for PhD studies. Students of this programme will be able to deepen their knowledge and skills through advanced coursework and industry application to advance their career or pursue further research.

Depending on their interests, students will be able to choose from the following disciplines that lead to a specialist award:

  • Astrophysics
  • Atmospheric science
  • Earth science
  • Physics
